Start Over: Create the Life You Want (and Deserve)

By Mary Jaksch

Have you ever had to start over in life? If so, you’ll know that big changes can be scary. The reason for the fear that can engulf us is that with sudden change, we lose any blueprint for life that we’ve been following.

Our lives can change abruptly from one moment to the next. At such times, it’s difficult to imagine that what may seem like a catastrophe may turn out to be an opportunity.

Look at the ordeal that a caterpillar has to go through in order to become a butterfly.

The chrysalis is trapped in a cocoon, where everything disintegrates. Then some cells cluster together as discs that carry a genetic blueprint for a new structure. And finally the butterfly emerges.

I recently shared my story with you of how I ended up in debt after a financial melt-down due to trusting the wrong kind of people. Looking back now, that terrible experience was actually an amazing opportunity.

At the time, I cast about to see what would help me to overcome this traumatic experience. In the end, I decided that writing a book on how to overcome difficult experiences would be helpful, both for me and for others. It was the birth of my book “Overcome Anything”.

But there was an important piece missing …

When I wrote ‘Overcome Anything’, I was focused on getting through the difficult experience. I hadn’t yet lived the next chapter – which is where what seemed a catastrophe turned into a blessing. I was still stuck in the “chrysalis” stage of transformation. Now, two years later, I’ve experienced the next chapter in my life, where I’ve gone from bust to boom.

I’m keen to share with you how to turn challenge into opportunity, like I did.

What you need in order to start over and create the life YOU want

What is most important is to have some role-models when your life has changes irrevocably. It helps to know that other people have gone through difficult times as well – and have come out on top. In addition, you need practical tips on what to do next, and how to heal and move forward.

Start Over: Create the Life YOU want

I’ve now finally finished the my new book Start Over: Create the Life YOU Want which shows not only how to overcome the first difficult phase of change, but also how to create something  that gives your life new meaning. Included are some wonderful stories of readers of how they started over, struggled, and finally found a new direction and ultimate success.

The Goodlife ZEN Start-Over Guide

I reckon that if you are faced with difficult change, just reading about what to do may not be enough. So, I’ve created the Goodlife ZEN Start-Over Guide which includes a workbook, two videos, and four podcasts.

I hear you and understand you Mary as I’ve had to start over a number of times no less than now. But such times are mere messages to inner motivation to carve and create our own life from the inside out. Nothing else could be finer or more rewarding. I wish you well with a book that can help many start again to live the life they’ve always promised themselves might not have known how to manifest or make happen.

Wow Mary this is awesome. I loved the first book: overcome anything and hearing your personal story on the radio really inspired me to find my own inner strength and to remain present and face my fears. I think that there is a difference with overcoming hurdles and starting over – I think when we are in the process of overcoming we focus on accepting, forgiving and letting go but when we are starting over we focus on creating and receiving and we will always be met halfway by the universe. At some point I stopped asking why is this happening to me and asked what lessons can I learn from this and how can I help others through this? My struggles led me to a private coaching business where I use all I have learned about stories and meditation to help others. My lesson is that sometimes the opportunities lie in the struggle and the overcoming

I’m so happy to hear this Mary. You are a true lifegiver: and because you have experienced life out on the great ocean, with its gales and beauty and terror, and not just in a small peaceful lake you have so MUCH to offer.

I feel so privileged to be here to share in welcoming your new creation into the world. May it bring much blessing to many people, and real, vivid input on how to cope with catastrophe. We’re in a world where catastrophe is never too far away…

Starting over is something a lot of people are faced with these days. For some, like me, I got a head start. The shock wasn’t as great to me when the melt down hit, but none the less, change happened again. Unfortunate that you lost to dastardly dealers, I hate that. But I’m glad you turned negative into a positive. Good for you. From my experience, as yours, starting over can be extremely rewarding. I’m happier now than I think I’ve ever been, and it is mostly because I was forced to learn to deal with change. Nice post!

Mary,

I am impressed with you wisdom and insight. I so agree with you when it comes to reinventing yourself and I also think along the process you also learn a lot about yourself, that you never knew before.
