Mary has such a calm and reassuring voice. I enjoyed listening to her even though I always feel so rushed, I calmed down and heard her and I was able to breathe..even though it hurt..like after you have been swimming so much and it hurts to breath deeply. But she was so kind in her direction that I was able to just "observe the thought" of how it hurts to breathe and so I could try this. I like her.

I've just read this post after returning from a solitary retreat in the forest. Your points sum up and nicely articulate what I was trying to do each day. Connecting with nature is hugely important because we often forget that we ARE nature! Not something separate. Growing a little vegetable garden or doing some weeding is an excellent way to do this. A scientific study came out a couple of years back that found soil contains a type of bacteria that enters the body under the finger nails and somehow stimulates the serotonin or happy gland. So leave the gloves off and get into the garden! Thanks Mary.

Absolutely beautiful ways to regain spiritual energy, Mary. Another, for me, is practicing a form of meditation I call "healing of God." I breathe in that healing with each inhale, and on each exhale, I allow it to spread throughout my entire being.

I like your idea about 'stolen moments". Instead of getting bored of waiting for an appointment, why not take it as take time to relax and meditate for a moment. Close my eyes and Thank God for all his goodness.

Hi, Mary -

Ya' know, one of my favorite kindnesses is to curl up under my flannel sheets and heavy comforters and really pay attention to the texture of the material against my skin -- especially now that the weather is turning colder. The experience allows me to feel warm and safe.

Thanks for a great post!

Great post Mary and some timely advice.

I got rid of my TV a couple of years ago and it is one of hte best thigns I ever did! I have also cut down on online news.

To recharge, I am away on a 3 day retreat from Friday and I plan to completely switch off from the world in a very tranquil place near Oxford in Ebgland:-)

hey mary!!

awwwwsome post.

the first bit got me chuckling, read a lil like a "spirituality informercial" :P

could just picture it, mascot et al :P

really agree with you though.

i think that your spiritual health is a reflection of where your life is at large. and not matter how much eckhart tolle you read, if you aren't healthy and well-rested, you'll have an overarching sense of un-ease permeating your being.

really great article all-round.

stumbled!

keep well mary
